Emory University is the highest ranked National University in the state of Georgia, placed 18th in the nation, according to the US News & World Report rankings 2009. Three Georgia institutions are placed at Tier 1, the other two are Georgia Institute of Technology (ranked 35th nationally), followed by University of Georgia (58th).
